Have you ever known someone who was just about fearless when it came to something which you were really hesitant about? What is it which causes a person to pursue or to attack something without hesitation? Imagine this: What if you could master the one area of your life which has plagued you with fear for as long as you can remember? If you are ready to find the source of your own courage then here is where you need to begin...
First, stop trying to fight fear. Fear is never going to go away, it is not supposed to. Fear is a natural vibration of your nervous system and trying to get rid of it would be more difficult than trying to remove your own spinal column without handicapping yourself. Instead, you have to accept that fear will always be there and learn a way to deal with it.
Second, you have to look at your reason for wanting to confront your fear.
If your current reason is not inspiring you to act in spite of fear than you need a bigger reason. Most of the time, if a reason is not big enough it is because it does not involve other people. No great vision is the property of one person and if it is than it is not going to be big enough to fight for in the face of fear. You can involve other people in a vision by making sure that it involves some kind of contribution to others. Finally, understand and accept that the only thing which is going to build courage is action. You can think and visualize all day but if you do not do the very thing which you are afraid of doing than you are only building an illusion in your mind. The funny thing about illusions is that we often become more attached to them then we do to the desire to experience the real.
As simple as these may sound, if you use them and do not falter you are bound to build courage, just remember that courage like anything else is a habit. It is not going to be easy and there are things which are going to try and stop you from building it. However, just like any other habit once courage is established it is very hard to get rid of.
